The engagement

How it works

Every engagement moves through four phases. The shape is the same whether you end up on the Build, Partner or Studio tier — the conversation in each phase changes, but the structure doesn't.

  1. 1

    Discovery

    Typically 1–2 weeks.

A real conversation. You walk us through what you're building, who it's for, what you've already tried, and where you think the hard parts are. We listen, ask, and push back where we think you're wrong. No NDAs, no heavy proposal documents, no commitment on either side.

You bring: your application, your honest answers, the time to talk for an hour or two.

  2. 2

    Deep evaluation

    Typically 2–4 weeks.

A short, paid engagement where we both find out if this is real. We produce something concrete — a clickable prototype, a technical feasibility memo, a costed v1 plan, sometimes all three. You see how we work; we see how you respond to honest engineering pressure.

Either side can walk away at the end of deep evaluation with no hard feelings and no further commitments. The work product is yours either way.

You bring: access to your domain experts, the customers you've spoken to (where reasonable), and a fixed fee that covers our time. The fee is small relative to the cost of building the wrong thing.

  3. 3

    Terms

    Typically 1–2 weeks.

If both sides want to continue, we negotiate the engagement properly: tier, cash fee, equity split, vesting schedule, milestones, IP, exit provisions. The shape of the negotiation is honest because the deep- evaluation phase has stripped out most of the unknowns on both sides.

You bring: a lawyer you trust. We bring ours.

  4. 4

    Build

First shipped product typically 4–8 weeks.

The first build is genuinely fast because deep evaluation produced a costed v1 plan you've already agreed to. You see weekly demos, a live board of in-flight work, and the same engineering, product and go-to-market people from week one to the day you raise (or the day you decide you're profitable enough not to).

After shipping v1, the cadence stays the same: weekly demos, monthly check-ins, quarterly strategic reviews. We're a co-founder, not a vendor — the build phase doesn't really end.

You bring: the customer-development work, the early hires, and the decisions only a founder can make. We bring everything else.
